Matt Duchene leads the way in the scoring department with 6 goals and 3 assists in 8 games. Future stud MacKinnon has 7 points,as does PA Parenteau.

Of those about 4 have been jaw droppers. He's a special player.

Patrick Roy had this to say about Sid:

"Crosby is in a class by his own right now. 17 points in seven games."

Crosby's on pace for 72/102/174. Needs to pick it up.

If he stays healthy, he could put the Art Ross out of reach by the Olympic break.

What's so god damn impressive about Crosby is he keeps getting better, even as other players around him peak and start seeing production drop, his points per game average has been steadily increasing year over year, like he is still finding ways to be better game in game out despite being the best offensive threat in the game.

Just ridiculous.

I am happy malkin and Crosby are both center and are not on the same line all year round

Hope the Pens get healthy on the injury front soon. Looks like Letang probably be back by Sat. v. Toronto, but Neal is apparently still +2weeks away. I'd really Bennett get healthy soon too.

Hopefully, the 2nd and 3rd lines will be able to take some of the pressure off of Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis. Sid can't keep his current pace up forever & -Malkin-Neal looked very good in the pre-season. Plus, it'd give Sutter & Bennett a chance to offensively gel a bit on th 3rd-line, which would be a huge plus come Playoff time.

It's easy to forget that he's only 26. Not to mention the fact he hasn't played more than 41 games since the 09/10 season.

He has ridiculous potential points wise and call me a homer if you want, but I think it's a damn shame hockey hasn't been able to see what exactly he can accomplish. Hopefully this is the year.

Not a homer at all.

Edit: I still don't think he's in a category with Mario and Wayne (or Orr and Howe, either), but he's definitely one of the best players I've ever seen play, and I did get to see Mario and Wayne.

Sid has all world talent but it's his 100% commitment to basics, which any player is capable of, that makes him he best player of his generation.

That combination is a coach's best friend.

Agreed. It's almost sickening how he just says, "I want to do this better," and does it, and doesn't lose anything else.

This game has the potential to be a 6-5 affair. Pens with 6, I am thinking.

He will deserve to be mentioned with them when it's said and done. It's not realistic for him to match those players point totals with how the game has changed.

The measuring stick will be how much better Sid is than his peers, and right now the gap is just as large as what Mario and Wayne had.

My friend who is a friend of the trainer on the Pens say it's not unusual to fro Sid to spend hours working one one thing. Faceoffs, tip ins, whatever he just has this gotta get it down mentality.

My buddy made the ice at the famous Andrews hockey school in PEI when Sid first arrived there at age 12. The stories are amazing. Keeping up with the NHL guys like Brad Richards at that age. But ripping the ice to pieces by him self every night after spending all day on the ice with other still floors me.

Oh for at least 2 summers that my buddy did the ice for the school.

I did a quick statistical analysis for OV's 65-goal season. I took league goal scored for his season as well as 81/82 (pro-rated for a 30-team league) and took the % of goals scored for each player, and they were pretty close, I think Wayne was a few % points ahead. But I wouldn't say he's a better goal scorer than (or as good of one as) Gretzky.

I just think those 4 guys are in one class, and it's going to take someone doing the near-impossible (like scoring 150+ points when everyone else scores under 120) for me to put a player with them. He may, we'll see.

I remember a story of when this attorney got community service and had to coach this terrible team. Of course the coach was a former stand out as a player until he hurt his knee. Anyway towards the end of the season they discovered Crosby should be on their roster due to districting. So he came to the lower income team and it wasn't a warm reception. In the end they ended up accepting him. There were some crazy adventures in between. Just amazing
